some of you may already know that I'll be at BICS [British International Comics Show] in Birmingham, in October.
Since I don't want to go empty handed, I assembled a mini comic to take with me. I'll print 100 copies, all signed and numbered for the convention. If you're interested in buying one, just note me. it's price will be 5euros [plus shipping if needed].
and yes I am really EXCITED about this !!!!!!
this deviation probably won't be around much, so hurry !!
You know what? looking at these pages, and looking at other things you've made, like the NoWords enry you sent us... I must say these pages have vastly superior quality.
First of all here you have a much more distinctive style, the characters have more personality, the lineart is solid and clear, while not loosing the vivid touch.
I think you also work a lot better when you don't colour the pages with watercolour. The panels are better readable and the overall impact is much better.
but... superior quality ?!?! mmm, these pages were more like 30' daily sketches, not much effort... as for the characters, well it's true, these are probably the only characters I can draw that don't totally change from panel to panel !! As for watercolouring the original pages I begin to doubt I should ever do that again... The original pages look pretty nice, yet once scanned and edited they look worse...
and I don't mind at all for the comments !! on the contrary, I wish more would make such comments...
THANK YOU !!
ps, I was thinking of sending you a copy, if you don't mind.
oh no I don't mind at all! what do you need from me?
And about the comments, well, I tend to be a bit cautious. I have been teaching comic art for some years and I know that I tend to be quite critical (as in constructive critique of course) towards other peoples work, probably because I'm my own biggest critic. I also know that not everybody wants her or his work to be criticized, so I'm cautious.
Anyway, if you seek feedback, I'm here... and I will write you some more about the comic you send us!
when the mini's printed I'll need an address !! will let you know
as for the critique, I understand what you mean, sometimes people can't take it. And yes it can be hard for other people to comment on your flaws and weaknesses, but this is why I became a member of DA in the first place, and the lack of serious constructive critique is the reason I'm disappointed being here. So please anything you have to say in order for me to improve is more than welcome and I truly appreciate it!!
