I should upload a journal soon about ALL of what happened at the Bristol International Expo 2011, but for now, here's a sneak peek of one of the comic collaborations I've pitched to various publishers there.
This comic was actually the first one that was accepted, signed and currently in production with Markosia and will be released in 2012:
WHITE KNUCKLE chapter 01 / page 06
Since the story is written by the amazing Cy Dethan, I'll let him do the talking (ok ok, I admit I'm also lazy so I'll copy/paste his blog):
"Unforgiven meets Harry Brown - and strangles him."
Forty years ago, Seth Rigal was a man to be feared – a serial strangler with a string of victims. Now nearly seventy and tormented by a lifetime of monstrous violence, Rigal lives on the verge of poverty and quietly waits for the death he knows he deserves.
Tortured and confused, still tormented by the drives that made him a killer in his youth, Rigal finds himself almost unconsciously stalking the daughter of his final victim – only to have his precious anonymity snatched from him when he accidentally saves her son’s life.
Seth Rigal, formerly known as the Gripper, just became a local celebrity. The bodies won’t stay buried any longer.
White Knuckle is a complex and intense psychological thriller, distorting the ever-popular “retired gunslinger” motif into a rain-slick urban fantasy of murderous men and the needs that drive them.
I'm really excited to be able to work with Valia, whose art and enthusiasm I've admired for a long time. If I had a handful of artists with half her ability, I could probably end the world.
obviously I don't know the whole story, given that there's just the one page, but there's a bit of the Tales of the Black Freighter essence in here I think? At least that's what I was reminded of... a man, delusional from being adrift at sea, returns home and murders his wife and kids, thinking them to be pirates.
I've never heard about the Tales of the Black Freighter, but it sure sounds great, I'll look for it I cannot really say much about the story really, because, um... I'm the one who draws it

and well done on the drawings
